Sara Shallenberger Brown GCA National Parks Conservation Scholarship

About this program

The Garden Club of America, administered by the Student Conservation Association (SCA), awards the Sara Shallenberger Brown GCA National Parks Conservation Scholarship to fund at least one SCA Apprentice Crew Leader, Leader, or Apprentice annually, providing training and a stipend to support hands-on conservation and experiential learning in U.S. National Parks. Recipients mentor high-school crews and work under land-management partners on tasks such as field data collection, visitor interpretation and education, trail and habitat maintenance, and other conservation projects to build technical and leadership experience. Eligible applicants are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are actively enrolled in a U.S.-based college or graduate program; international applicants are ineligible due to IRS restrictions, and only one GCA scholarship/fellowship/award application is permitted per year. Selection is made jointly by the SCA and The Garden Club of America Scholarship Committee; apply through the SCA website.
