Sarnoff Fellowship Program for Medical Student Cardiovascular Research

About this program

The Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Foundation offers a one-year fellowship for medical students to conduct intensive biomedical research in cardiovascular or cerebrovascular sciences at a U.S. research institution, with a $45,000 stipend and up to $5,000 in travel and related allowances. The program supports basic, clinical, translational, epidemiologic, and interdisciplinary research and includes mentorship from a laboratory preceptor and Sarnoff advisor. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. medical school; second- and third-year students are encouraged to apply, while MD/PhD students are ineligible and fourth-year students must provide a graduation-deferment letter. Selection is nationally competitive and emphasizes academic achievement, leadership potential, research commitment, and recommendations; the deadline for the 2027–28 program is January 6, 2027.
