Scholar Program

About this program

The Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation’s Scholar Program provides $125,000 annually for four years to support mid-career scientists advancing research toward NIH or other independent funding. Applicants must be tenure-track faculty members in their fifth through eighth year at invited American institutions and hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D.; participation is by invitation, with each institution limited to two candidates. Proposals require institutional and collaborator support letters, a lay summary, five-page expert proposal, NIH-format biosketch, four-year budget and justification, and disclosure of current and pending grants; overhead is not covered. Funding is contingent on annual progress reports and must be used exclusively for approved project activities.
