Searle Scholars Program — Grants for exceptional young scientists

About this program

The Searle Scholars Program makes three-year grants of $450,000 ($150,000/year) to support the independent, early-career research of exceptional faculty in the biomedical sciences and chemistry. Candidates must be nominated by one of the Program’s participating, tax‑exempt (501(c)(3)) U.S. research or degree‑granting institutions; awards are issued to institutions (not individuals) and recipients must be legally employed at a U.S. institution. Applications are submitted annually online (June–September) and are reviewed by a Scientific Advisory Board that favors creative, high‑risk/high‑reward projects; limited exceptions to start‑date eligibility and MD‑only basic scientists engaged in research may be considered.
