Senior Clinical Research Fellowship

About this program

The Neurological Foundation Senior Clinical Research Fellowship provides personal salary support (up to 1.0 FTE of the fellow’s New Zealand clinical salary, based on a 40–44.9 hr/week post, plus salary‑associated costs) to enable practising clinicians to undertake clinical neurological research at New Zealand healthcare organisations; the research FTE may be spread over 1–5 years (minimum 20% per year) and recipients may apply for related travel grants (combined cap NZD 4,500) up to two years after completion. Applicants must be medically qualified, practising clinicians in a neurological discipline who are established independent researchers and whose proposed research will be hosted at a New Zealand institution. Applications are submitted via the Neurological Foundation Grants Management System and must be forwarded by the Host Institution (observe institutional internal deadlines); the Foundation will not fund institutional overheads, equipment, working expenses, student stipends/fees or relocation costs. Fellowships are offered annually with two rounds (closing 18 March and 18 August; outcomes advised early July or December) and are assessed by external reviewers and the Foundation’s Personal Awards Committee with final approval by the National Council.
