Sir Francis Forbes Society for Australian Legal History Prize

About this program

The Francis Forbes Society for Australian Legal History sponsors a AU$500 prize for the best presentation by a higher degree research student or early-career researcher at the Australian and New Zealand Law and History Society annual conference, with the winning paper considered for publication in law&history subject to normal refereeing. Applicants must notify the conference conveners of their interest prior to the conference. The winning author is required to submit a final written paper of 8,000 words plus notes, formatted to the law&history style guide, to the journal editor within six weeks of the conference and include an abstract of up to 200 words. Papers are judged by a panel appointed by the editor and will undergo the journal’s usual refereeing process; winners are normally announced by the following April.
