Small Grants Mentee/Mentor Program (NANN Research Institute)

About this program

The NANN Research Institute’s Small Grants Mentee/Mentor Program provides mentored funding up to $5,000 to support neonatal nursing research or evidence-based practice projects that build proposal-writing and research capacity for mentees new to obtaining external funding. The mentee must be the PI (neonatal nurse, graduate student, post‑doc, or junior faculty), be a current NANN member, and applicants with prior external funding over $25,000 for a single award are ineligible; mentors must demonstrate EBP/research leadership and expertise and are strongly preferred to be nurses (mentors need not be NANN members). Awards are made to the grantee’s institution and may be used for supplies, small equipment, technical services, and project-related travel (up to $1,000 for conference presentation) but not for salary, tuition, books, or membership fees; IRB review (if applicable) must be documented before funds are released and recipients must submit a one-page project report and pursue dissemination (including NANN abstract submission and initial manuscript submission to Advances in Neonatal Care). Applications are due March 1 annually and the funding cycle runs November 1–October 31.
