About this program
The Smith Family Foundation offers the Smith Family Awards Program for Excellence in Biomedical Research to support newly independent biomedical researchers in achieving medical breakthroughs. Awards of $400,000 over three years are provided to advance research in basic biomedical sciences, physics, chemistry, and engineering. Eligibility is restricted to full-time faculty within three and a half years of their first independent appointment at nonprofit academic, medical, or research institutions in Massachusetts, Brown University, or Yale University. Applicants must verify their eligibility through their department Chair and the institution's Office of Sponsored Research.
