Society of Addiction Psychology (SoAP) Student Research Grant

About this program

The Society of Addiction Psychology (SoAP; APA Division 50) offers four annual Student Research Grants of up to $1,000 each to support graduate student research in addiction psychology, including a President’s Selection aligned with the yearly presidential theme and a diversity/equity-focused award; recipients also receive conference registration and up to $500 in travel funds to present findings at APA or the Collaborative Perspectives on Addiction (CPA) conference. Applications must be submitted as a single PDF emailed to div50research@gmail.com by 11:59 PM EST on May 1. Eligible applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program with at least one full year remaining, be a SoAP student affiliate (or apply for affiliate status by the deadline), and have faculty advisor approval plus a letter of support. The required application packet includes a signed application form, 1‑page cover letter, 250‑word abstract, 3‑page research summary with budget, 2‑page CV, and 1‑page advisor recommendation; awardees must submit follow‑up and final reports.
