About this program

Chesapeake Bay Trust’s Sponsorship Program provides small awards to support events—conferences, festivals, forums, etc.—that increase awareness of restoration and protection of the Chesapeake and Maryland watersheds or promote the Trust’s revenue programs (Treasure the Chesapeake license plate, Chesapeake and Endangered Species Tax Check-off, Maryland Outdoor Recreation and Clean Water Fund). Awards are typically $500 for programmatic support and up to $500 for marketing; match is encouraged but not required, and requests are reviewed on a rolling basis through the Trust’s online portal until fiscal-year funds are expended. Eligible applicants include nonprofits, community associations, faith-based organizations, and similar groups that serve a Maryland audience (events may be located anywhere within the Chesapeake Bay watershed), with priority for groups historically under-engaged with environmental issues, new applicants, and diverse communities.
