About this program

The American Osteopathic Foundation offers the Sterling K. Welch, DO, Scholarship—annual $2,000 awards to Osteopathic medical students demonstrating significant financial need, academic achievement, volunteer service, and commitment to Osteopathic medicine. One $2,000 scholarship is presented to a qualifying student from each COCA‑accredited COM/SOM, branch campus, or location. Eligible applicants are OMS I–III in good standing at a COCA‑accredited COM/SOM who demonstrate significant financial need and meet at least two of the following: academic standing at/above the 50th percentile, volunteer community service beyond requirements, or strong affinity for Osteopathic medicine; current AOA student membership is required. Students must be nominated by their COM/SOM and submit a nomination packet (online nomination form, Dean’s Letter of Good Standing, Financial Aid Letter of Financial Need, one‑page personal statement, CV, and proof of AOA membership); nominations are reviewed on a rolling fall basis with notifications by December 31 and a deadline of November 30, 2026.
