Landscape Architecture Foundation (LAF), through the Steven G. King Play Environments Scholarship established by Steven G. King, FASLA, awards $5,000 to a student who demonstrates high potential in designing play environments and an appreciation for the social and educational value of integrating playgrounds into parks, schools, and other settings. Applicants must be enrolled in an LAAB- or LAAC-accredited landscape architecture program in the U.S. or Canada and be master's students or undergraduates in their final two years with demonstrated creativity, openness to innovation, and interest in park and playground planning. Required materials include an online form, headshot, 150-word bio, resume, two faculty recommendation letters, a 300–500-word essay on the value of play, and a three-page work-sample plan; submissions must adhere to guidelines and the February 1 deadline.
