Strachey Trust Grants — travel grants for authors researching literary manuscripts

Offered by the Strachey Trust and administered by the Society of Authors, grants of up to £500 fund travel to archives or collections in the UK and Republic of Ireland to research manuscript material (letters, diaries, other unpublished items, including photographic or digitized copies) for a specific full‑length literary project with a strong likelihood of publication. Funding is intended to cover travel-related research costs; applicants with larger research budgets or requests to 'buy time' are directed to the Authors' Foundation. Eligible applicants are authors as defined by the Society of Authors' full membership criteria (membership not required) who are UK residents or British citizens; applications are assessed on a rolling basis (usually within two weeks) and may be submitted by email or post to the Society of Authors.
