Student Travel Grants

About this program

The New Zealand Ecological Society, supported by the Kauri Fund, offers Student Travel Grants to defray conference and field trip fees, travel, accommodation and meals to encourage student attendance and participation at the NZES conference. Small grants are awarded based on relative travel costs among applicants, with the number and size of awards determined at council discretion and one award guaranteed for a Māori student. Eligible applicants are current undergraduate or postgraduate students (or those enrolled within six months), members of NZES, and must have an accepted abstract for the student day or main conference; applications are submitted during the abstract submission process and must include travel needs, existing funding, a personal statement (max 300 words) and a supervisor’s supporting statement. Selection prioritises students who have not recently received awards, those travelling greater distances, oral presenters over poster presenters, and applicants without other funding; recipients are expected to acknowledge NZES support and verify attendance.
