Summer Intern Scholarship in Cardiothoracic Surgery

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS) offers the Summer Intern Scholarship in Cardiothoracic Surgery, providing $2,500 grants to first and second-year medical students for an eight-week summer placement in a cardiothoracic surgery department with an AATS member. The scholarship aims to introduce students to the field and covers living expenses during the training period. Eligibility is limited to students enrolled in a North American medical school as of January 2025, with no more than two students from a single institution receiving the award, each requiring a unique AATS member host sponsor. Recipients must submit a summary report within 60 days of completing the internship, and two students may also receive the additional Scanlan Family Summer Intern Scholarship based on merit.
