Sustain Our Great Lakes Program – 2026 Request for Proposals

About this program

NFWF’s Sustain Our Great Lakes program, administered with corporate, philanthropic and federal partners, awards grants for on-the-ground habitat restoration, nature-based solutions, invasive species control and activation of restored natural areas across the Great Lakes basin. Priority projects conserve species and improve water quality, expand and maintain nature-based solutions in communities, control invasive species to protect restored habitat, and activate restored habitats for public use. Eligible applicants are project implementers and conservation partnerships working in the Great Lakes basin—commonly nonprofits, tribes, local/state agencies and other conservation organizations—and projects must directly address program priorities and geographic scope. Applicants should expect to leverage SOGL funding with match or other leveraged funds and to demonstrate measurable ecological outcomes and partnership capacity.
