The Anne S. Chatham Fellowship in Medicinal Botany

About this program

The Garden Club of America, administered by the Missouri Botanical Garden, offers the Anne S. Chatham Fellowship in Medicinal Botany to support research that protects, preserves, and expands knowledge of medicinal plant use and may lead to therapies; one annual award of $4,500 is provided for direct research costs such as travel, field studies, or laboratory work. Eligible applicants are doctoral candidates in botany or PhD recipients within five years who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled at U.S.-based institutions; international applicants cannot be funded due to IRS restrictions. Proposals must be received by the Missouri Botanical Garden by January 31 of the year preceding study, only one GCA scholarship/fellowship/award application is permitted per year, and recipients are selected by a panel of botanists appointed by the Garden and approved by the GCA Scholarship Committee.
