The Boomerang Award

About this program

The Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB) offers the Boomerang Award to an outstanding expatriate Australian biochemist or molecular biologist to return to Australia to present at a Symposium at the annual ASBMB conference and to deliver seminars in at least one other Australian city; the award includes free conference registration and significant contributions to travel and accommodation. Applicants must have been awarded their PhD no more than 10 years before the closing date (with allowances for career disruptions) and must either have been continuous members of a recognised Australian scientific society for at least two years or take out a three‑year ASBMB membership in the year of application. Applications must be submitted as a single PDF using the Boomerang Award Application Template and include letters of reference from at least two supporters who have been ASBMB members for a minimum of two years, all uploaded via the online form; the award is currently open.
