About this program
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is offering a $4.4 million grant through The Freshwater Challenge (FWC), a country-led initiative aimed at restoring 300,000 kilometers of rivers and 350 million hectares of wetlands by 2030, while conserving intact freshwater ecosystems. The project supports target setting, policy integration, monitoring, and knowledge sharing to advance freshwater conservation and restoration globally. Eligibility is limited to country-led initiatives and GEF recipient countries, with 36 of the 47 participating national governments and the European Union already being GEF recipients. Applicants must demonstrate alignment with international commitments on climate resilience, biodiversity, and sustainable development goals.
