The Garden Club of America Fellowship in Ecological Restoration

About this program

The Garden Club of America offers an annual Fellowship in Ecological Restoration awarding $8,000 to an exceptional graduate student at an accredited U.S. university to support research—preferably field-based—advancing ecological restoration. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents actively enrolled in a U.S. graduate program across relevant disciplines; international applicants without permanent residency are ineligible. Applications require a single PDF emailed by December 31 to josh.goldman@wisc.edu (cover sheet, research proposal up to five single-spaced pages including literature cited and figures, one-page budget, and résumé up to two pages) and two recommendation letters (one from the graduate advisor) to be emailed by their authors by the same deadline. Recipients are chosen by a UW–Madison Arboretum review panel with awards announced in March; awardees must submit a 250-word plain-language abstract, annual accounting, a final report, and acknowledge the GCA and the Arboretum in publications.
