The Joan K. Hunt and Rachel M. Hunt Summer Scholarship in Field Botany

About this program

The Garden Club of America offers the Joan K. Hunt and Rachel M. Hunt Summer Scholarship in Field Botany, a $3,500 award to a single student to support U.S.-based summer field-botany study chosen by the student, for academic credit or beyond regular coursework. Proposed activities can include assisting botanists, conducting plant inventories, monitoring in national forests, or internships on botanical garden projects; selection is made by the GCA Scholarship Committee and may include field-botany experts. Eligible applicants are U.S. citizens or permanent residents currently and actively enrolled at a U.S. institution at the undergraduate or graduate (master’s or below) level, with preference given to undergraduates; international students are ineligible due to IRS restrictions. Applications (the same form used for the GCA Summer Scholarship in Field Botany) must be received by GCA Headquarters by February 1 preceding the summer, and applicants may apply for only one GCA scholarship, fellowship, or award per year.
