The Sally Mitchell Dissertation Prize

The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) awards the Sally Mitchell Dissertation Prize annually to the best Ph.D. dissertation on the British periodical press of the long nineteenth century, including magazines, newspapers, and serial publications. The winner receives $1,000 and a two-year RSVP membership; applications open January 15 and are due March 1. Applicants must have defended their dissertation during the previous calendar year, and the work must study periodicals as an object of inquiry rather than primarily as sources for other historical topics.
