The Thomas J. Emery Memorial is a Cincinnati-area private foundation, established by Mary M. Emery, that funds projects enhancing the social, cultural, educational, civic and physical well‑being of Greater Cincinnati residents. Grants generally support capital projects and program needs, with limited awards for operating support, endowments and select federated campaigns; the Memorial typically does not fund individuals, taxing authorities, political subdivisions, conferences, or loans and prefers to participate alongside other donors. Eligible applicants must be IRS‑recognized 501(c)(3) organizations located in the Foundation’s Greater Cincinnati service area (Hamilton, Butler, Clermont, Warren counties in Ohio; Boone, Campbell, Kenton counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn County, Indiana), must submit a Letter of Inquiry through the online system, and must complete a post‑grant evaluation. Application cycles are semiannual (LOI deadlines June 15 and Dec 1; proposal deadlines Aug 1 and Feb 1; decisions Nov 30 and Apr 30), and organizations must generally wait 24 months after final grant payment or a declined request before reapplying.
