About this program
SHAPE America’s Research Council offers the Thomas L. McKenzie Research Award—one or more annual grants of up to $2,000—to support graduate students and early-career professionals conducting research in physical education, physical activity, and public health. Priority is given to studies of physical activity in natural settings (schools, parks, homes) that relate to disease prevention and measure behavioral outcomes (not mentalistic or biological indicators), and may target individual, group, or policy-level promotion. Applicants must be SHAPE America members who are graduate students or within four years of graduation, meet program eligibility/grantee requirements, and submit the application plus a one-page letter to Dr. Emi Tsuda (emi.tsuda@mail.wvu.edu) by December 10 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
