About this program
SHAPE America’s Research Council offers the Thomas L. McKenzie Research Award to support development of researchers in physical education, physical activity, and public health, providing one or more annual awards of up to $2,000. Eligible applicants are graduate students or early-career professionals (within four years of graduation) who are members of SHAPE America; priority is given to behavioral studies of physical activity in natural environments (schools, parks, home) related to disease prevention, and proposals measuring mentalistic or biological outcomes are not eligible. Applicants must follow the application requirements and submit the application plus a one-page letter to Dr. Emi Tsuda by the stated December 10 deadline (11:59 p.m. EST), consulting the provided application materials and proposal tips.
