About this program
SHAPE America, through its Research Council, offers the Thomas L. McKenzie Research Award to support graduate students and early‑career professionals pursuing research in physical education, physical activity, and public health, with one or more awards of up to $2,000 annually. Eligible applicants must be SHAPE America members who are graduate students or within four years of graduation; priority is given to behavior-focused studies of physical activity in natural environments (e.g., schools, parks, homes) related to disease prevention, and funds do not support mentalistic or biological outcomes. Applicants should review program requirements, submit application materials, and email a one-page letter to Dr. Emi Tsuda at emi.tsuda@mail.wvu.edu by December 10 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
