The Edward N. and Della L. Thome Memorial Foundation offers a $1,200,000 grant to support innovative drug discovery research aimed at developing improved therapies for Alzheimer's disease. The funding focuses on validating and testing target compounds and therapeutic agents, including biologics and small molecules, with emphasis on pathogenic mechanisms such as inflammatory response, synaptic toxicity, neuronal toxicity, and endosomal/lysosomal trafficking defects.

Eligible applicants are researchers holding a faculty appointment at a non-profit academic, medical, non-governmental, or research institution in the United States. US citizenship is not required, and applicants do not need institutional nomination; preference is given to originality of ideas regardless of faculty seniority. Basic research, genetic studies, biomarker research, neuro-imaging, and clinical studies are excluded from this program.
