Urban Trees Mini Grant

About this program

Chesapeake Bay Trust offers Urban Trees Mini Grants of up to $10,000 to support small community-implemented native tree-planting projects in Maryland’s urban underserved areas as part of the state’s 5,000,000-trees-by-2031 initiative; requests are accepted on a rolling basis until funds are expended. Eligible applicants include non-profits, community and homeowner associations, faith-based organizations, and similar community-based groups, and project sites must be within the Trust’s qualifying urban underserved “orange” areas or located within a housing project. Applications are submitted through the Trust’s online portal and must include the completed online application and Narrative Questions Document; all planted trees must be registered with the Maryland Department of Environment’s Five Million Trees Tracking Tool, and applicants are strongly encouraged to provide planting plans, landowner/partner commitment letters, and a two-year maintenance plan.
