About this program

Varian’s research program funds 300+ investigator-initiated projects to develop novel radiation‑oncology technologies, generate clinical evidence, and explore emerging trends across clinical and technical domains. Applications are accepted year‑round and reviewed regularly by Scientific Review Committees using criteria such as alignment with Varian’s strategy/roadmap, novelty, cost‑effectiveness, disruptive potential, portfolio fit, and potential to advance the field. Eligible applicants are investigators proposing well‑written projects with clear objectives, methodology, milestones, deliverables and a realistic budget; funding is competitive and awarded following a fair market value analysis. Awards require negotiation and signature of a Research Agreement detailing IP, clinical responsibilities, confidentiality, budget, reporting and other contractual terms; contact the listed regional Geo/Topic specialists for inquiries.
