Victorian Periodicals Review Expanding the Field Prize

The Research Society for Victorian Periodicals (RSVP) offers the annual Expanding the Field Prize—a $500 award plus publication in Victorian Periodicals Review—for an outstanding essay that broadens the geographic, racial, and ethnic scope of nineteenth‑century periodical studies. Eligible applicants include graduate students, independent scholars, and faculty of all ranks; submissions must be original (not previously published or under consideration) and address topics such as BIPOC founders/editors/contributors/readers, critiques of Anglocentrism, anti‑racist or anti‑colonial approaches, or the British Empire’s cultural impact. Manuscripts should be 4,000–7,500 words (15–25 pages), double‑spaced with one‑inch margins and a standard 12‑pt font, submitted as a Word attachment to vpr@rs4vp.org; entries open May 1 and are due June 15 (winner typically announced in August), and RSVP membership is encouraged but not required.
