About this program
The American Folklore Society’s Children’s Folklore Section offers the annual W. W. Newell Prize, including a $200 award, for the best unpublished essay on a topic in children’s folklore. Eligible applicants include undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and early-career scholars, who must submit their own typed, double-spaced papers by July 15. Submissions must include the author’s contact and academic information on the first page, and winning papers may be offered publication in the Children’s Folklore Review.
