About this program
The Children’s Folklore Section offers the annual W. W. Newell Prize, a $200 award for the best essay by students or emerging scholars on a topic in children’s folklore. Applicants must be the authors of unpublished papers; undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates, and early-career scholars are eligible. Submissions must be typed and double-spaced, with the first page listing the author’s name, academic and home addresses, e‑mail, and telephone number(s); the deadline is July 15. Award-winning papers are offered the opportunity for publication in the Children’s Folklore Review.
