Washington Square Health Foundation Grants

About this program

The Washington Square Health Foundation funds projects that deliver significant community health benefits in direct health care services, medical research, or medical education, with emphasis on underserved populations and health services not adequately supported by government or third-party reimbursement. Eligible applicants must be 501(c)(3) public charities classified under IRC Section 509(a)(1) or 509(a)(2), with active organizational participation, community partnerships, and plans for sustainability; supporting organizations under Section 509(a)(3) are ineligible. Projects must not fund general operating or administrative expenses, land acquisition, construction, capital campaigns, or permanent funds, and direct health care projects generally must be located in or linked to the Chicago metropolitan area. Applications are submitted online by June 1 or December 1 and must include an annual community health care report posted publicly on the applicant’s website.
