About this program
The Vermont Historical Society awards the $1,200 Weston A. Cate, Jr., Fellowship biennially to support one year of original research and writing on any aspect of Vermont history. Fellows must complete the project within one calendar year and produce a final product, typically an essay, research article, or exhibition-related work. The fellowship is open to all individuals; applications must include the designated form and two recommendation letters submitted directly by the recommenders. Applications are due May 31 of even-numbered years, with preference given to projects addressing research gaps and using specific Vermont Historical Society collections.
