About this program

The Strategy Research Foundation (SRF) of the Strategic Management Society is offering Will Mitchell Dissertation Research Grants of up to US$10,000 to support doctoral dissertation research in strategic management, funding direct research and data‑collection expenses (e.g., data purchases, surveys, respondent incentives, RA and transcription caps) but excluding institutional overhead and recipient stipends. Grants are disbursed at the start of a two‑year grant period (January 1, 2027 for the 2026 call) and recipients must provide periodic reports, an executive summary and dissertation copy, document expenses, and participate in SRF activities at SMS Annual Conferences. Eligible applicants are full‑time doctoral students at accredited institutions studying strategic management who are at the dissertation stage—ideally with 2–3 years remaining and having completed at least half of program requirements; previous SRF WMDRG recipients are ineligible. Proposals (in English) must be submitted via the online portal by October 1, 2026 and include a 10‑page research proposal, detailed itemized budget and timetable, CV, and a dissertation advisor recommendation, among other required materials.
