William V. Sliter Research Award — Graduate student research support in Mesozoic and Cenozoic foraminifera

The Cushman Foundation for Foraminiferal Research offers the William V. Sliter Research Award, a fellowship providing up to $3,000 to support graduate research on Mesozoic and Cenozoic foraminifera. Applicants must be current Cushman Foundation members and enrolled graduate students with developed projects; geochemistry proposals are eligible only when directly related to living or fossil foraminifera (studies using microfossils solely as geochemical indicators are ineligible). Applications (due March 1 annually) must include an application form, a 1–3 page research summary and statement of significance, a detailed budget with justification, CV, and a faculty advisor’s letter of support; previous awardees should also submit a summary of prior grant-supported work. Proposals are evaluated on scientific merit and financial need, the Board may make no awards or adjust requested budgets, decisions are made by late April, and awardees must submit a progress report within two years and acknowledge the Foundation in resultant theses or publications.
