XPRIZE Wildfire Competition

About this program

The XPRIZE Foundation, with support from the Gordon & Betty Moore Foundation, PG&E, Minderoo Foundation, and other sponsors, offers the $11 million XPRIZE Wildfire competition to advance ultra-early wildfire detection and rapid autonomous response. Teams compete in space-based detection and intelligence or autonomous wildfire response, with grand prizes of up to $3.5 million per track, milestone awards, and a bonus prize. Individuals and organizations—including researchers, startups, students, subject-matter experts, and other innovators—may participate, except where prohibited or restricted by U.S. law. Competitors must demonstrate solutions through technical submissions and outdoor testing under representative high-risk wildfire conditions and are responsible for all participation, development, operations, and travel costs.
