AAP Foundation Dr. D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award

About this program

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation, with sponsorship from Carestream Dental, offers the Dr. D. Walter Cohen Teaching Award to support beginning periodontal educators pursuing careers in teaching and research. One $10,000 supplemental payment is awarded in the fourth quarter of the year following the AAP Annual Meeting and may not replace institutional salary, stipend, or research support. Applicants must be in the third year of a nonmilitary, accredited U.S. periodontal postdoctoral training program by the deadline and intend to pursue full-time periodontal teaching and research in the United States. Candidates should demonstrate strong interest in periodontal education, excellent character and integrity, academic and personal achievement, and aptitude for teaching and research; applications are due June 1.
