Abba P. Schwartz Research Fellowship

About this program

John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, using funds provided by Abba P. Schwartz’s family and colleagues, offers the Abba P. Schwartz Research Fellowship—a stipend up to $3,100 to support research on immigration, naturalization, or refugee policy that makes use of JFK Library archival materials. Eligible applicants are researchers undertaking such projects and are strongly encouraged to consult a JFK Library archivist (Kennedy.Library@nara.gov) before applying. Required materials are a completed application form; a brief proposal (≤4 pages) naming JFK and other collections to be consulted and describing audience and expected outcomes; two letters of recommendation; a writing sample (≤10 pages); a project budget showing intended use of funds and other/matching support; and a CV or resume—email applications to Kennedy.Fellowships@nara.gov; awards are announced December 1 and fellowship funds must be used within 24 months.
