Advanced Postdoctoral Fellowships

About this program

Breakthrough T1D’s Advanced Postdoctoral Fellowships fund full-time diabetes-related research training and the transition to independent faculty-level positions, providing up to USD 95,000 per year for up to three years (with an optional one-year transition award); human-subjects projects on diabetic eye, kidney, and cardiovascular complications are now eligible. Fellows must devote at least 75% effort to the project and budgets may cover stipend and limited training/research costs (no indirects); proposals are submitted via RMS360. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DMD, DVM, DO, or equivalent), not be concurrently in an internship/residency, and are generally within six years of their terminal degree (Breakthrough T1D may accommodate career/COVID-related gaps). Applications require an accredited institutional sponsor, a 7-page research plan, a 2-page future career statement, a 2-page sponsor training plan, and three confidential recommendation letters.
