Alexion Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) — ISR and ESC opportunities

About this program

Alexion (part of AstraZeneca) supports Externally Sponsored Research to complement company-sponsored programs and expand scientific knowledge on rare diseases and related medicines. ESR comprises Investigator-Sponsored Research (ISR), where an external investigator independently initiates and manages the study, and Externally Sponsored Collaborations (ESC), where investigators and Alexion may collaborate on study design and interpretation. Applicants must be external investigators who assume legal and regulatory responsibility as the study sponsor and align proposals with Alexion’s strategic areas (haematology, nephrology, neurology, meTA+); investigators should review the downloadable ESR Guide for submission requirements and sponsor obligations. Proposals from listed countries—or any proposal involving selumetinib or neurofibromatosis—are submitted via Alexion’s portal; all other countries use the AstraZeneca ESR submission portal.
