About this program

The International Retinal Research Foundation (IRRF) offers the Alston Callahan, M.D. Postdoctoral Scholar Award in Basic Science to support postdoctoral researchers performing fundamental vision science and to strengthen the international pool of independent vision scientists. The award is one of three IRRF Scholar Awards created in memorial to key contributors to the Foundation and provides funded support beginning July 1 for selected postdoctoral scholars. Eligible candidates are postdoctoral investigators in basic vision research and must be submitted by nomination; nominations are due March 15, reviewed by the IRRF Director of Education with final approval by the Board of Directors, and applicants will be notified in writing by June 1.
