APA/APAF Leadership Fellowship

About this program

Funded by the APA Foundation, the APA/APAF Leadership Fellowship develops national leaders in organized psychiatry through leadership training, mentorship, networking, governance experience, and sponsorship to attend two APA Annual Meetings and two Fellowship Forums. Up to 20 fellows are supported annually for a two-year term from July 1, 2027, through June 30, 2029. Applicants must be APA members, be PGY-1 or PGY-2 residents in accredited U.S. or Canadian psychiatry programs with two years of training remaining, and have passed the required board examinations; international graduates and non-U.S. citizens are eligible. Candidates must be nominated by their training director or department chair, with each program limited to one nominee, and demonstrate clinical excellence, leadership, involvement, research, and teaching accomplishments; applications are due March 15, 2027.
