Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch (AWRR) Research Fellowship Program

About this program

Audubon Southwest’s Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch (AWRR), supported by the Research Ranch Foundation, offers an annual Research Fellowship awarding up to three early-career conservation scientists working in southeastern Arizona with $1,000 for research expenses and a $500 housing voucher for lodging at the Research Ranch, plus opportunities to present via the AWRR Fellowship Webinar Series and Audubon communications. Funded work should align with the Ranch mission (examples: grassland conservation, species of greatest conservation need, ecosystem restoration, natural history, climate impacts, and community engagement), with priority given to projects conducted on the AWRR. Applicants must be 18–30 years old, demonstrate a strong conservation ethic and scientific rigor with a well-designed study, and submit a cover letter (≤1 page), research proposal (≤3 pages), CV/resume, and one letter of recommendation addressing conservation ethic and scientific ability to steven.prager@audubon.org.
