BAEF Research Fellowships 2026-2027 — Research in Belgium

About this program

The Belgian American Educational Foundation (BAEF) offers non‑renewable research fellowships for U.S. citizens or permanent residents to conduct research in Belgium during the 2026–2027 fellowship year, with a standard 12‑month tenure (minimum six months) that must begin between July 1 and December 31, 2026. Doctoral fellows receive a $30,000 stipend and post‑doctoral fellows $34,000, with health insurance provided and stipends prorated for stays under 12 months. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents; doctoral candidates must be enrolled in a U.S. Ph.D. or equivalent program, while postdocs must hold a Ph.D. with no more than two years since conferral as of July 1, 2026. Official bachelor's and master's transcripts are required and fellows are expected to be in residence in Belgium for the fellowship period.
