Beyond Batten Disease Foundation (BBDF) funds fundamental, preclinical, IND‑enabling, translational and clinical research focused on CLN3 juvenile Batten disease, supporting both foundation‑directed portfolios and investigator‑initiated projects on a rolling submission basis. Investor‑initiated awards range from $5,000 to $2 million (average ~$150,000 over two years); applicants submit a Letter of Intent, are advised to consult BBDF’s Principal Scientist, and—if invited—submit a full proposal using an NIH R01‑style format. Eligible applicants are investigators proposing work that advances disease mechanisms, biomarkers, patient registries, trial readiness, or de‑risking of therapeutic development for CLN3; funded projects are contractually milestone‑driven and require deliverables and progress reporting.
