Bridging to Success Award (SPR)

About this program

The Society for Pediatric Research (SPR) Bridging to Success Award provides transitional support for pediatric physician‑scientists and researchers who have applied for NIH K08/K23, AHRQ K08/K01 (MD only), K99/R00 awards, or who submitted an A0/A1 application judged potentially competitive on resubmission. Up to four awardees are selected annually (maximum two per application window) and receive $40,000 awarded to the sponsoring institution (no indirect costs) which must be matched by the institution; funds are disbursed $20,000 in year one and $20,000 in year two only if the K award remains unfunded, and recipients present at the PAS meeting in year two. Eligible applicants hold MD, MD/PhD, DO, DVM, MPH, MS, or DDS/PhD degrees and must be SPR Active or Emerging to Established (E2E) members; there is no institutional limit, but applicants must have a fully reviewed A0/A1 Summary Statement dated within two calendar years of the RFA and intramural K programs (K12, KL2) are ineligible. Applications are accepted twice yearly with deadlines of March 2 and September 2 and proceed through main and finalist review rounds with notifications in June or December.
