Broad Research Award for Graduate Students

About this program

The Ruth K. Broad Biomedical Research Foundation offers a one-year Research Award for Graduate Students to support high-priority basic or translational neuroscience research, including projects advancing understanding of neurodegenerative disorders and Alzheimer’s disease. The award covers the standard graduate stipend, fringe benefits including health insurance, and tuition remission under Duke University policy; indirect costs are not allowed. Applicants should preferably be Duke PhD students in their second or third year, and international graduate students are eligible and encouraged to apply. Awardees must present research to the Foundation’s Board of Directors when requested and submit a final written report; applications are due February 1, 2026, for the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 award period.
