BSC Trainee Paper Award

About this program

The Biophysical Society of Canada (BSC) offers the Trainee Paper Award to recognize high‑impact, original research publications led by trainees in any subfield of biophysics, with up to two recipients each receiving a $300 prize presented at the BSC Annual Meeting. Eligible nominees are current or recent (within one year of finishing their term) undergraduate, graduate, or postdoctoral trainees at Canadian universities who are the leading authors on a paper published or in press (DOI required) within the preceding calendar year. Nominations must be submitted by the nominee’s supervisor or co‑supervisor and include a nominator cover letter (max 2 pages) describing impact and the nominee’s contributions, a PDF of the paper, and one arm’s‑length supporting letter or a reviewer’s report. The Awards Committee judges submissions on scientific excellence, originality, nominee leadership (conceptualization, experimental design, writing, collaboration), and impact, applying equity, diversity, and inclusion principles.
