Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship

About this program

Alpha Omega Alpha offers the Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship to support medical student research in clinical investigation, basic science, epidemiology, social science/health services, leadership, or professionalism. Awards provide $7,000 for a 2–12-month project requiring at least 240 hours, plus up to $1,000 in travel reimbursement for presenting results at a national meeting.

Eligible applicants are first- or second-year medical students actively enrolled at schools with active AΩA chapters or associations; students taking a research or PhD year, or those who already hold a PhD, are ineligible. Each school may nominate one candidate, and applications must be endorsed by the school’s AΩA Councilor and dean and include mentor support, required research approvals, and a complete proposal; the submission deadline is January 19, 2027.
